This piece, and others using mousetraps, explore how individuals are typecast and “trapped” within a former identity. By juxtaposing high school yearbook portraits with prejudices and stereotypes, I explore how personal or social interpretations remain powerful factors in how we remember others. Although years go by, we survive as memories through a photograph and label we’ve outgrown.
